The New Baptist Covenant creates vibrant, inclusive Baptist communities, building bridges in places previously marked by division. Established in 2007 by President Jimmy Carter as an effort to begin the complex and vulnerable work of bridging persistent racial and theological divisions between Baptist communities, NBC’s flagship transformative effort joins congregations of different ethnic or racial backgrounds from historically segregated communities.
Project title: Covenant of Leadership: New Baptist Covenant Strategy for Nurture and Cultivation
The New Baptist Covenant seeks to bolster the leadership infrastructure through Sabbath practices, coaching and education. Through their Leadership Development Grant, they will nurture a growing intergenerational culture of collaboration, formalize mentor relationships and ultimately to increase capacity to sow racial harmony in the world God so loves.
