The “Best of the Christian Press” awards were presented April 29, 2011, at ACP’s annual conference in Chicago.
For Faith & Leadership’s “award of excellence” for best independent website or e-zine, the judge wrote, “This site is the best in its class, offering a full range of online features, interesting story ideas and excellent writing. The individual articles are very good, and they’re enhanced with video, slideshows, Q&As, related articles, links and additional resources. It’s hard to stop reading. One good story leads to another, and another, and another. The nice design elements — use of color and fonts — add an extra level of quality.”
Faith & Leadership also received awards of excellence for “Body and soul” by Kate Rugani (theological or scholarly article); “Advent aloud” by Christine Parton Burkett (professional resource); and “He lingers in my presence” by Mark Ralls (theological reflections: short format).
Awards of merit were given to the biographical profile “I want to be like them” by Bob Wells and for Call & Response, Faith & Leadership’s companion blog, which was edited through April by Jason Byassee. Jessamyn Rubio was awarded an honorable mention for the illustration “Reimagining Power.”
The ACP, founded in 1916, is the oldest interdenominational religious press association in North America. To learn more about the awards program, visit the ACP website or view a list of all the 2010 award winners.
